DS409 supports Windows ADS authentication allowing the administrator to effortlessly manage numerous user accounts. After simple configurations on the DS409 Server, Windows domain users will be able to make use of their existing user accounts and passwords to access the file server as they could access any network file.

Windows users can access the server via Samba and FTP, Mac users via Samba, FTP, and AFP, while the built-in NFS service provides Linux users a quick step to access the server via NFS protocol. UTF-8 simplifies file name encoding and sharing in different languages.

DS409 software provides a simple web-based file management interface for users to remotely access and manage files online. You can directly upload, download, copy, move, delete and rename files or directories in the shared folders on the DS409 through a web browser. For security, HTTP / HTTPS can be configured by the administrator.

DS409 is a full-scale FTP server and is easily setup using a FTP wizard. It offers advanced capabilities for exchanging whole directories or large amounts of data between Servers and local computers. Once the FTP service is enabled, by using a Management User Interface, the administrator can create user accounts, set up privileges, assign port numbers, limit maximum connections from each IP, permit anonymous account login, control file transfer bandwidth, allow SSL/TLS connections, auto-block uninvited IP addresses, and view a complete log particulars by the end of daily sharing.
